5 Series to Stream Now

5 shows to watch.png

Winter’s in full swing, the Super Bowl has passed and although Punxsutawney Phil says spring is approaching, it just isn’t here soon enough. You’ve watched Stranger Things and caught up on the rest of your Netflix queue so now what? How about checking out some of these solid, but lesser known series to stream?

The Unlisted

I’ll start the list with a family friendly pick. The Unlisted follows twin brothers Kal and Dru as they try to stop the Global Child Initiative from controlling the minds of school children. The series is fresh, exciting and suspenseful. A show for kids that keeps parents entertained a well. Both my 10 year old and I couldn’t wait to watch the next episode. (Netflix)

The Stranger

Ok, I just finished watching season 1 last night and WOW, what a show! It is fast paced and filled with twists, turns and surprises. The basic premise is a stranger approaches a family man to reveal a big secret about his wife. This action is the catalyst to a litany of events, all interwoven in a tapestry of suspense, thrills and action. To be clear, this is one for after the kids are in bed. (Netflix)

The Expanse

This is a thoughtful but exciting sci-fi show that takes place in a future where humans have colonized MARS and have been living there for a few generations. Tensions are high between Earth, Mars and the Belt (another group of humans who have been mining in outer space). Thoughtful and exciting as we follow our protagonist, Jim Holden, and his crew, as they find themselves the unlikely heroes time and again. There is so much going on in this show that it takes a few episodes to really get hooked, but once you do, it is hard to turn off. Another one to enjoy after the kids have gone to bed. (Amazon Prime)

Agatha Christie’s The ABC Murders

Based on the book of the same name, The ABC Murders is a limited series following detective Hercule Poirot as he tries to solve a mystery surrounding a series of murders in London. It is a well thought out show, as it not only keeps you guessing till the end, but shows a side to the famed detective that has yet to be captured on screen. Do to the mature content, definitely wait for after the kids are in bed. (Amazon Prime)

The Inbestigators

I’ll end the list the way I began, with another family friendly pick. The Inbestigators is a team of 5th grade detectives set in Australia who solve mysteries in school and for their neighbors. The kids are fun and lively and the show is fresh and funny. The whole family enjoys seeing if we can put the clues together before they solve the case. (Netflix)
